It was one of the missions carried out by a group of Republic operatives in 3638 BBY during the Dread War.After an urgent call from Supreme Chancellor Saresh, the operatives left Carrick Station and traveled to the moon of Oricon, each in their own ship. As they approached the planet, their sensors detected heavy orbital defenses, so they decided not to land their ships, but simply skim the planet and disembark, ordering their companions to move to a safe distance and pick up operatives as soon as landing beacon went off.The operatives landed near a makeshift Republic camp amidst the wreckage of the Republican ships. The soldiers of the Republic and the members of the Jedi Order around them carried out their duties. Operatives saw a group of Jedi nearby who appeared to be meditating, and a female soldier along with a MAGTR droid. As they approached them, the woman called out to them to stop and identify themselves. When the operatives said they were sent to the rescue by the Supreme Chancellor, they started hearing voices in their heads urging them to kill all around and telling them that the salvation that came was actually their doom. Seeing how the woman reacted, the operatives realized that the female also heard the same voices. She yelled at the voices to shut up and asked the droid for confirmation."Identity confirmed. Their Republic security clearance supersedes my own" - replied Dee-Ex. "It's a blasted start. Sergeant Trila. I'm the highest ranking person on Oricon who's not dead, insane or in a trance.""We saw the last message from your fleet. What's happened since then?" - said one of the operatives. "That wasn't just you - I heard those voices. The Dread Masters?" - added another. "They talk a lot. They make us see things. Master Ogan-Dei and the others are trying to shield us" - replied Trila - "I was on Belsavis when they escaped. The visions, the voices... they were never this bad before.""Warlord module update: We will be overrun by Dread Guard within eighty-nine minutes" - the droid interrupted. "Damn it. I'd love to talk strategy, but we've got our hands full and no manpower. You all they sent?" - asked Trila. "There's no one else coming. Are there other survivors?" - replied one of the operatives. "We think so, but they're lost in the kill zone. You find them, maybe - maybe - we can regroup, plan a counterattack" - Trila said. The operatives argued that the survivors would need an evacuation rather than a battle plan, but Trila said that without securing their positions first, the evacuation would turn into a slaughter. The operatives agreed to look for survivors, and Trila relayed the coordinates for the crashed escape pods. The operatives geared up and went into the wilderness to start searching. |
